Lightning Talk: Using Topological Data Analysis to Find Breakthrough Insights in Complex Datasets

The use of Topological Data Analysis (TDA )is reinventing how we find knowledge from data without asking questions, writing queries or code. By pairing hundreds of mathematical algorithms with machine powered intelligence, end users and domain experts can discover knowledge from massive datasets in seconds to minutes, often finding answers to questions that one would not know to ask of their data.

The audience will gain an understanding of what exactly the mathematical study of shape (topology) is, and how it can be applied to understand massive and complicated data sets. The audience will also learn the difference between traditional business intelligence or “big data” solutions and Topological Data Analysis, as well as the types of problems that TDA is best suited for with an example of how TDA has been used to solve a real world problem.
